Shore excursions from Cititavecchia
Sightseeing in Rome from its port of Civitavecchia is becoming every year more popular due to the increased numbers of passengers arriving at the piers of Rome.
The northern harbor of Rome is located one hour and half approximately far from the city center of Rome with a good connection through the highway that intersects the main way to go the Rome airport Leonardo da Vinci also known as Fiumicino.
Ships from Rome cruises arrive early in the morning and customers are ready to pick up their limousines and minibuses for their day tours of Rome and shore excursions.
What you can see in Rome having one day at disposal? Many monuments can be discovered in one day but what you need first is a local expert english speaking driver who can allow you to save more time and energy because the knowledge of our territory is our best pride and makes our tours of Rome more efficient every time we perform them.
Recently the major of Rome adopted restrictions to theTraffic of Rome for the zones of archaeological interest and in those zonesa cleaner air breathes too.
We, drivers of Rome, can make your day tour of Rome very interesting and knowledgeable because we can switch quickly from the south, where the Appian way is located, to the north, where the vatican is established since 2000 years and the pope lives with the cardinals.
If you will be able to visit Rome with me, you will have the pleasure of a show that only Rome can offer you in only one day.
Your driver-guide will come to pick you up at the ship for the beginning of your excursion. After a pleasant tour through the Etruscan countryside (about 1,5 hour), you will be directly in the heart of Rome, where your visit will start sightseeing across the following places:
- THE CAPITOL HILL, seat of the actual Mayor of Rome and ancient public library in Rome from the I° century before Christ;
- PIAZZA VENEZIA, where is the monumentto Vittorio Emanuele II°, (our last king), called by the Romans "the typewriter";
- THE COLOSSEUM, theater of great battles with gladiators, fierce beasts and Roman ships;
- THE ROMAN FORUM, testimony of the presence of kings, republican magistrates, and Empires thathave known how to conquer the world;
- THE CIRCUS MAXIMUS, that has been the greatest arena with its spectacular chariot races that the world has ever seen and the MOUTH OF TRUTH, proof of fidelity from the times of the first middle age;
- THE TREVI FOUNTAIN, that makesdream million of tourists to return to Rome with its elegance;
- SPANISH STEPS, that have become some world centers of fashion and shopping with their famous stairs and the near via Condotti.
After a standstill for the lunch (optional) in a traditional restaurant of the Roman cuisine, the tour will continue with the greatest collection of art that earth has ever had:
- THE VATICAN MUSEUMS, in the Vatican City, the smallest State of the world;
- THE SIXTINE CHAPEL, place where the popes are elected and house of immense painters;
- ST.PETER'S BASILICA, symbol of the Christians of the whole world from 1700 years.
In the late afternoon your driver-guide will bring you backto the ship located in Civitavecchia or to the airports of Rome, following the agreed schedule and time.
The rates are in Euros. They include the driver tour guide for all the duration of the tour and don't include gratuities, lunch and entrance fees. And of course you have your private minibus at disposal for all the duration of the tour in Rome.
Entrance fees:
- Colosseum 10 Euros (with us you will avoid the line)
- Vatican Museumsand Sixtine Chapel13 Euros
For the Vatican Museums, the Sixtine Chapel and the St.Peter's Basilica a private guide for a tour of 2/3 hours is available.
(N.B.: In the St.Peter's Basilica shorts, sleeveless tops and short skirts are not admitted.)
Please note that:
- If you are a group of 12-14 persons, it could seem much easier to make the excursion with only one bus, but it's not because the buses with more than 8 people have not the permission to get in the restricted area of Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps and you are forced to get off and to walk for some miles making the tour harder and losing a lot of time and things to see.
We can avoid this problem doing the tour with a luxury Minivan (up to 6 people) and a luxury Minibus (up to 8 people) together, resulting to you in a lower physical effort and more time to enjoy. - The Vatican Museums (and the Sixtine Chapel) are always closed on Sundays (except the last of each month),and also on; January 1st and 6th, February 11th, March 19th, April 1st, May 1st, 9th and 30th, June 29th, August 14th and 15th, November 1st, December 8th, 25th and 26th.
