Your shore excursion of Rome will continue to Piazza Venezia where you will see the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II (being also the Tumb of the Unknown Soldier) hilariously called "the wedding cake" or the "typewriter" by the Romans, a visit to the Colosseum, theater of great battles with gladiators, fierce beasts and Roman ships, the Circus Maximus, the greatest arena with its spectacular chariot races that the world has ever seen and the Mouth of Truth, proof of fidelity from the times of the middle ages.
Driving through the time you will then admire the Trevi Fountain, where millions of tourists dream to come back to Rome throwing three coins in this 18th century's architectural masterpiece, and the Spanish Steps, center of elegance, fashion and shopping with the famous stairs of Trinità dei Monti and the near via Condotti.
After a standstill for the lunch (following your wishes) in a traditional restaurant of the Roman cuisine, the tour will continue with two options:
- Vatican Museums and Sixtine Chapel (where the Popes are elected in the smallest State of the world)
OR
- Piazza Navona (the ancient Circus of the emperor Domitian in the first century AD transformed today in a Roman Montmartre), the Pantheon (a pagan temple of 27BC transformed in a Christian church during the sixth century AD which is still intact) and a final view of Saint Peter Basilica and its square.
In the late afternoon your driver-guide will bring you back to the ship located in Civitavecchia or to the airports of Rome, following the agreed schedule and time.
The rates are in Euros. They include the driver tour guide for all the duration of the tour and don't include gratuities, lunch and entrance fees. And of course you have your private minibus at disposal for all the duration of the tour in Rome.
Colosseum entrance fee is 12 euros per person (possibility to avoid the lines) and Vatican Museums 14 euros.
For the Vatican Museums, the Sixtine Chapel and St.Peter's Basilica a private guide for a tour of 2 or 3 hours is available at a cost of 50 euros per hour. Please note that in St.Peter's Basilica shorts, sleeveless tops and short skirts are not admitted. For the men even the short pants must arrive under the knees.
